Why Does Anyone Take Andrew Breitbart Seriously?

After the Shirley Sherrod film editing fiasco, is there any reason at all to believe any film footage Andrew Breitbart has edited? I would say no, but apparently his blog still gets a lot of traffic, and he remains a popular guest on all sorts of shows, including some you wouldn't think would offer him a platform.

One of his latest hatchet jobs was performed on the University of Missouri - St. Louis and the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He accuses these two campuses of subverting students enrolled in two courses: Introduction to Labor Studies and Labor Politics and Society. According to Breitbart's blog, the taxpayer-funded Professors teaching these courses "not only advocate the occasional need for violence and industrial sabotage, they outline specific tactics that can be used." (Note the emphasis on taxpayer-funded; nothing seems to get posted on the Big Government blog without pretending to have the taxpayers best interests at heart.)

Of course, it turns out the post and accompanying video were found to be "Highly Distorted Through Splicing And Editing" following an investigation by University officials. MediaMatters is reporting today on the findings of the University, and supporting officials' conclusions with their own investigation.

It is time for people to stop taking this idiot's views as legitimate.
